What “Certified” Actually Means
Not every pre-owned wooden boat earns the Certified Legends designation. Here’s what goes into it.
Warranty
Van Dam stands behind its hulls unconditionally. Every new build carries a warranty against wood rot, water intrusion and building defects — a guarantee that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the marine industry. If you’ve been shopping used boats, you already know how unusual that is.
Certification
Before a Van Dam boat enters the Certified Legends program, our team reviews its history, condition, and maintenance record. We know every boat we’ve built — who commissioned it, when it launched, and what work has been done since. That institutional knowledge is part of what you’re buying.
Inspection
Our craftspeople inspect each boat in person: hull integrity, mechanical systems, interior woodwork, hardware, and finish. Any recommended maintenance or restoration is documented.
